On friendship...

I've been thinking a lot about the changes that has happened since my son was born. The past year was extraordinary. I learned to appreciate the joys and pains of motherhood, I understood the impact of family life and I've had an absolute shift in all my priorities.

Needless to say, my relationship with my friends was also affected. I've had real good friends that stuck it out with me from day one, and for the others, it's sad to think that you would lose them in your time of greatest need. I'd like to share a quote I read while surfing the net.

"A real friend walks in when the rest of the world walks out."

It's been quite a journey for me. I've met new people and have established new relationships. I've reconnected with some old time friends. I do have a lot of good memories of my past but it's inevitable to also have your "what ifs".

My son has improved his people skills since we participate in several activities he has lined up every week. Unfortunately he doesn't have exposure to a close relative or friend of either of his parents. I'm truly grateful for some friends and kind-hearted strangers who reach out to people like me.

Like what they say: "No man is an island."
